Sailing in the Afternoon Tapestry

Archived in the category: home decor

Sailor’s flight of fancy. Sailing In The Afternoon tapestry, based on a work by Borafull, is an ingenious creation. In the foreground, two sailors are shown piloting a smart sloop around the island of Manhattan. The sails are full, the boats lists slightly as it slices through the steel gray waters and past one of New York City’s iconic bridges. In the background, a number of tall buildings can be seen. One can imagine people in those offices gazing with longing at the boat and envying the sailors their freedom. Borafull used a modern palette of blues, tans and grays with only a single pop of red from a small waterside warehouse. His pastiche of paint and collage has been rendered in this tapestry in amazing detail. This is truly a unique and arresting work of art.
